Language versions of the Tie Public License

TPL 2.3 is published in ten languages. Every language version is identical in effect; the English text is the authoritative and controlling text, and prevails in the event of any conflict (Section 15.8).

Translation status is recorded in OFFICIAL-TRANSLATIONS.md in the license repository.

What "official translation" means

Under Section 15.8 the Licensor may designate a translation as an Official Translation. An Official Translation is published to aid understanding. It does not displace the English text: the conditions of the License apply equally to all language versions, and the English text prevails if the two ever differ.

Translations may also exist that are not designated official. Those are reference renderings only, and carry no endorsement.

Adopting TPL in your language

You do not need a translation to adopt TPL. Attach the English text of the version you use to your distribution, and state that version in your notice. You may additionally include a translation for your readers' convenience; if you do, keep the English text alongside it so the authoritative wording is present.

Reporting a translation error

If an Official Translation departs from the English text, the English text governs and the translation will be corrected. Report it as an issue in the license repository, quoting the language, the clause, and both wordings.
